Saturday Storm

We are in for a big old Nor'easter here today and I'm so glad it's going to be rain rather than snow. It sounds like Cape Cod will get the worst of it in New England, but we are set to stay in for the day anyway. Maybe I can catch up on my reading some!

This morning I am watching the Spacewalk as they try to delicately repair a solar panel. NASA tv is awesome and a great learning experience for kids and adults. Above is a picture of the torn solar panel. I'm waiting for this book to come from Amazon. Love to listen to Richard C Hoagland on "Coast to Coast" (he was on last night briefly) and the book looks very interesting!

I've also been watching some of The Today show this morning and noticed that the weekend news anchor, Jenna Wolfe has Kate Howard's haircut! I can't find a current photo that does the hair style justice, so you'll just have to tune in The Today Show on the weekend!

GH stuff-- If you thought Snoopy penned the immortal line, 'It was a dark and stormy night', you're about to learn otherwise.

The words are actually from the 1830 novel, 'Paul Clifford' by Edward George Bulwer-Lytton, widely held to contain the worst opening sentence of any novel in the English language.

In full, the opening sentence reads thus:

"It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents - except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the house-tops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness."

Snoopy and It Was a Dark and Stormy Night

Well it sure was dark, and it sure was stormy on Spoon Island! Who names an island after an eating utensil anyway? Never mind Alexis' lack of surgerical scars (maybe they are way below the cut of the dress), but how could a lung cancer survivor scream that loud and not pass out? Gotta give NLG credit though, it was a good scream. Wasn't Sonny supposed to give up alchohol when he started taking his meds for his bipolar disorder? Does he ever go to therapy anymore? I still wonder if he was hiding out at Wyndemere after his limo blew up. He knew about the ball and was sure dry and dressed for the event when he found Kate. Seems like a really good place to hide to me. Is the guy who took the flashlights from Liz, and was then murdered, the same guy who was dancing with that wacky swaying redhaired woman? Loved the flashback in black and white of Johnny as a little boy watching his mother murdered. Why black and white-- it wasn't THAT many years ago! I have a friend whose daughter actually believed for years that the Whole Wide World was in b/w until SHE was born, then it burst into color. Kind of like the Wizard of Oz! Now Jason on that speed boat- that was so fake. It reminds me of some scene on tv or in a movie that I've seen before, but I disremember what.
When Kate said she could smack herself over Trevor my first thought was "I would pay to see that"..even better if Carly showed up (like my wish for the Liz/Sam fight, see a post from yesterday) and started yelling "Fight, Fight"! while Kate slaps herself silly.

More later-- back to the Nasa Channel.
